The very first thing you have to do is contact your state’s contractor licensing board and get all the information that you can get for becoming a contractor. When I took my test years ago, you just have to answer 62% of the questions correctly during the contractors licensing exam to pass and receive your brand new contractor’s license.

If you can’t get the licensing board, visit the state website, which is generally listed as state.gov. The state of Florida’s contractors licensing board is situated on the Florida government website. You can just type the name of your state into any search engine and there is a good possibility at it will take you to the home page of the state. You need this information to appear for the Contractors school testing exam. 

I got my license as a general contractor with four years of experience as a framing contractor, as they didn’t have framing contractor licenses back then. Now they have such licenses.  Becoming a licensed contractor is a way to make more money and live a better life. If you are a hard worker, success driven person and you don’t mind working for long hours, go for it. If you simply want to make a lot of money without doing much work, maybe you should try your luck at something else, as most of the contractors I know work for a living after passing the construction residential commercial school testing exam.
